Induction motors are known as work horse of industry where these motors are mainly operated high power ratings. In high power applications induction motors are fed by multilevel inverters as it is easy to produce a high-power, high voltage with the multilevel structure because of the way in which device voltages stresses are controlled. The unique structure of multilevel inverters allow them to reach high voltages with low harmonics. The output voltages of multilevel inverter tens to sinusoidal as the no of levels increases.Cascaded multilevel inverters has gained more interest because of its advantages over other MLI configurations like diode-clamped, flying capacitor inverter. In this paper five level cascaded MLI is modelled, the output is fed to induction motor and performance characteristics are evaluated.
